What ignited your interest in Cryptozoology and how did The A.C.R.O get started?
I first got into Cryptozoology after watching a documentary on the Abominable Snowman ever since then I have been fascinated with our very own Australian Yowie and in February last year I founded the Australian Cryptozoology Research Organisation with researchers in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. The A.C.R.O. Was created in February last year when I was talking to a couple of fellow researchers who liked the idea and jumped on board ever since then I have got a lot of researchers dedicated to our cause
For those who may not know, what is Cryptozoology?
Cryptozoology is the study of unknown hidden animals that science has not proven such as Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Bunyip etc. And ones that once existed that might still exist such as the Thylacine and others
What has been a discovery in this field of study over the years which intrigue you?
To me the most intriguing discovery to do with Cryptozoology was the giant squid caught by a Japanese fishermen.
(The giant squid Jack refers to was captured by Shigenori Goto off Japan’s Sadagashima Island. Video of the squid before and after it was captured claimed that it weighed more than 160kg and measured over 4 metres (13 feet) long, with eight arms and massive eyes.)
The ACRO run an annual conference which launched this year "Australian Cryptozoology Conference was set up for an interesting educational event on Australian Cryptozoology and Rex Gilroy helped influence the event" Says Jack. For more details check out the Conference Website
The ACRO have a Facebook Page which advertises the events they have coming up, such as the Watagans Cryptozoological Adventure Campout scheduled for 18 and 19 February, 2017.
