Sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a spooky trip, that started from this far off state, and ended in friendship
Yeah really lame I know, but hey that’s me lol
In 2011 with my interest growing in the paranormal world I tuned into a local Sydney radio show called Ghost of Oz. I quickly became a fan of the funny and kooky hosts Alex, Danni and Glen and looked forward to tuning in each week to see what spooky, macabre and interesting topics they were going to talk about. One week as I listened to a live event from Monte Cristo they decided to give away a ticket to meet them at a future investigation and I decided why not let’s give it a go. Surprisingly I won and thought, bugger it I know they’re in Sydney but let’s go for a weekend trip! So I packed my bags and headed over to spend a creepy night at Casula Power Station! The GOO guys were just as much fun in person as they were on the radio and quickly made me feel at home. I met many great people that night who would also go on to become part of the GOO family.
Things progressed from there and I started doing guests spots on the show as a reviewer of Aussie paranormal books. Eventually I became part of the team as a regular reviewer and host. The team slowly expanded and we met Ellie, Beth, Peet, Megan, Dan, Jonathon and Tina. As things go in life we lost a few along the way and said goodbye to Glen, Beth and Dan but the sense of family and camaraderie has always been around and they’ve always supported me from afar.
The last few years with all these guys has been so much fun and I am so proud to have been a part of this great show, the events they have organised and most massively Paracon Australia. Coming across to Sydney for this annual event was amazing to see the community and friendship that was created for our paranormal world.
It’s time for me now to move in a different direction as things in my life have taken me on a new path so I sadly say adieu to the team and the fans but I know you are being left in good hands :) Be good to each other, we only have one paranormal community and it’s full of so many amazing people and teams. Support each other, cheer each other and most importantly stay spooky friends
Last Friday evening (the 26th of Feb) Ghosts of Oz held our second Freaky Friday Trivia Night. We were holding a raffle in support of both RedKite and Paying In Forward.
We managed to raise $861 for Red Kite and made a generous donation of much needed items to Paying It Forward.
Redkite: "Redkite is the Australian cancer charity providing essential support to children and young people (0–24 years) with cancer, and their families and support networks."
Paying It Forward: "Supporting homeless patrons in Western Sydney with hot meals, food hampers, clothing, toiletries, blankets, tents, swags and help accessing other services. Supporting local homeless and prevention programs. Helping to link local services to create a strong support network in our local area"
Guests who attended the night brought items to be donated to Paying in forward and purchased raffle tickets with all funds going to Red Kite.
A BIG THANK you to all those who support the raffle by donating prizes. Beth Luscombe (Access Paranormal), Colleen Cayas, Sharon Kershaw, Steve McMillan, Lisa Mackintosh, Andrea Diamond (Shambalaa Berry), Josh Langley, Tina Leverton and, Megan Stone (Blessed Pathways)
